Energy Solutions

An advanced biomass factory processes agricultural waste from agroforestry farmers into clean, renewable energy. By utilizing cutting-edge technology, the factory converts biomass into heat and electricity, efficiently powering nearby homes and businesses. This closed-loop system supports local agroforestry farmers by providing a sustainable outlet for their waste, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and promotes energy independence. The factory not only delivers affordable and eco-friendly energy but also strengthens the local economy and contributes to climate resilience by turning waste into valuable resources.

Our pricing and commercial models seek to reduce the costs for energy offtakers
We are looking for partners in the underground energy sector to make this net a reality

This shift not only addresses air pollution concerns but also supports the country’s broader environmental goals by reducing carbon emissions and promoting the use of renewable energy sources

Why does the Royal Haskoning DHV report conclude that the project can be carbon-negative?

The core reason is that the factory captures part of the flue-gas CO₂ for use in the food and beverage industry. By doing so, it displaces CO₂ that would otherwise be produced from fossil sources. In addition, the facility uses locally sourced biomass waste (e.g., prunings) and delivers surplus heat to nearby buildings. These combined measures result in more greenhouse gases being offset or avoided than are emitted in the production and distribution process. And there is no waste, everything gets used til green energy purposes

How does Jalo Biopellets address local air pollutants like NOx or fine dust?

The net carbon footprint is negative. Jalo Biopellets Jalo wishes to accelerate replacement of more fireplaces and all-burners with modern pellet boilers equipped with Nederpellets. These advanced technologies help reduce local air pollution to levels significantly lower than older-generation pellet appliances.

What measures does Jalo Biopellets take to limit transport-related emissions?

The project sources woody biomass from a local radius of about 70 km, which keeps freight distances short and transport emissions low. This contrasts with imported pellets that often travel intercontinental distances. Although the Royal HaskoningDHV analysis assumes standard diesel trucking, the reduced haul distance substantially lowers the carbon impact compared to more conventional, long-distance biomass supply chains.

How does the factory optimize energy use in its pellet production?

The key efficiency measure is a 15 MWth biomass-fired boiler that generates steam  by using biomasse en produce electricity. The restheat will be partly be used to dry the feedstock for the pelletproduction and partly for the needed energy/heat for the CO2 capture out of the fluegas .  Out of this process the restheat will be delivered as surplus heat to local buildings. This integrated   production of elctricty/drying approach and heat cascading lead to high overall energy efficiency—up to nearly 100% of the energy in the feedstock is harnessed either in pellets or via surplus heat, minimizing wasted energy.
