Pellet Sales

Biopellets are an eco-friendly and sustainable energy solution produced from organic waste materials, such as agricultural residues, wood, or biomass. These compact, high-energy pellets are ideal for industrial, commercial, and residential heating applications, offering a renewable alternative to fossil fuels. Biopellets provide a consistent and efficient energy output, reduce carbon emissions, and support circular economy practices by utilizing waste. Their sale caters to markets looking to transition toward greener energy solutions while promoting cost efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Starting from 2027 we will sell Neder Pellets
These compressed rods are clean, compact and provide comfortable warmth. There are different types. Jalo is the first in the Netherlands to produce the high-quality Nederpellets.

Nederpellets are ready-to-use compressed sticks with a carbon footprint 50% lower than other Dutch wood chips

Benefits of Neder Pellets

There are many benefits to Neder Pellets such as the one below.
Is biodiversity protected.
No Soil depletion
Through agroforestry and landscape restoration farmers increase their income
Accelerated replacement of fireplaces and all-burners with modern pellet stoves using Nederpellets will reduce the fine dust problem with wood burning in the Netherlands by at least 50%

What makes Jalo Biopellets’ project carbon-negative?

Jalo Biopellets achieves carbon negativity by using agricultural landscape waste—such as prunings, all other wood-based rest residues from local farmers—as feedstock for producing biopellets. The special work process is also set up in such a way that heat generated once is reused no less than three times, and CO2 from the flue gases of the biomass boiler is captured and stored as CCS. Instead of burning or leaving this waste to decompose (which emits carbon dioxide and methane), the project transforms it into a clean, renewable fuel source. Additionally, the factory invests heavily in agroforestry, planting diverse trees and shrubs that sequester carbon over time, creating a long-term carbon sink in Overijssel.

How does this project benefit local farmers in Overijssel?

Farmers gain several benefits:

  • Waste Utilization: They can sell or donate agricultural waste, turning an environmental challenge into a source of income. In phase 2 I could use all residual flows for the gasification and pyrolysis process.
  • Soil Improvement: Agroforestry initiatives supported by the factory improve soil health, boost biodiversity, and reduce erosion, enhancing the resilience of their farmland.
  • Local Collaboration: The factory fosters a local circular economy, strengthening partnerships between farmers and sustainable businesses.

What role does agroforestry play in the project’s success?

Agroforestry serves a dual purpose:

  • Carbon Sequestration: By planting trees and shrubs, Jalo Biopellets offsets carbon emissions from its operations and captures additional atmospheric CO₂, achieving a net-negative footprint.
  • Ecological Resilience: Agroforestry enhances biodiversity, improves water retention, and provides natural windbreaks, creating healthier ecosystems in Overijssel. These systems also produce additional biomass that could be used for biopellet production in the future.

What are the environmental benefits of using biopellets over traditional fossil fuels?

Biopellets produce significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels like coal or natural gas. They are made from renewable waste materials that are released annually from landscape maintenance, which avoids the extraction of non-renewable resources. Additionally, the use of landscape waste reduces methane emissions from decomposition, and the project's agroforestry efforts contribute to long-term carbon storage. This combination helps combat climate change while promoting sustainable energy solutions.
