For our local community
Sharing heat. Keeping value close.
JALO wants to use the heat from the plant as fully as possible. First for its own process, then for suitable heat demand from businesses, public facilities and homes in the area.

01
One energy source, several uses
The planned biomass boiler uses low-grade woody material and process residues that are not suitable for the main product. The heat supports electricity generation, drying and CO₂ capture. Remaining heat can, depending on temperature and offtake profile, be used via a heat network.
02
A heat route for Almelo
According to the project plan, the cooperation with COGAS is at the stage of a memorandum of understanding. Binding agreements on heat supply and the technical connection still have to be completed. The plan investigates offtake for a local hospital, homes in Molenbeek and other customers, among others.
03
From local heat demand to a feasible connection
Distance, temperature, annual consumption, peak demand and the availability of a heat network determine feasibility. For businesses and area partners the conversation therefore starts with their concrete heat profile. The final price, connection costs and delivery date require separate agreements.
- Map your annual and peak heat demand.
- Investigate temperature, piping and connection.
- Work out security of supply, back-up and tariffs.
04
Handling air quality with care
Biomass combustion has emissions. Clean heat therefore requires suitable technology, flue-gas cleaning, monitoring and compliance with the site conditions. JALO does not present heat from biomass as emission-free. The total climate performance must be assessed across the chain.
Let's make it concrete
